Glory to Hong Kong Music Tour

In May 2024, I had a mini-tour performing at UK and Hague. I am excited to share my adventure!

First, a friendly reminder about my upcoming concert on Nov 2, 7 pm - The People United, at the 800-seat George Weston Recital Hall in North York (Meridian Arts Centre).

Together we will commemorate Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement and 35 years anniversary of Tiananmen Square Massacre. I will perform works by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and my Hong Kong Rhapsody. There will also be dance, Ukrainian songs and Iranian protest music as well! Join me in unity across diasporic communities!

In May, I had a mini-tour at UK and Hague.  From formal concert to community events, and participated in ImagiNation: Hong Kong in Exile symposium where I performed and gave a lecture on Hong Kong Rhapsody: Cultural Identity and Activism in Classical Piano Music

On May 8, Hong Kong court officially banned the protest anthem Glory to Hong Kong.  Offenders can be imprisoned for life.  Yet Hong Kongers fearlessly sang loud and proud Hong Kong's anthem at all my concerts.

Chinese state medias again 'exposed' my 'crimes' of being a separatist, and reminded me that I had infringed on HK’s National Security Law just because I paint and write music.😂

My art was also exhibited in Leeds and Hague.  Hope you enjoy below my tour highlights.

“Glory to Hong Kong” 5 in 1

King's Cross St Pancras - 5/17

London - 5/4 | Leeds - 5/11

Hague - 5/23 | Sutton - 5/18

May 4 - Hong Kong Watch - London

(with guest cellist David Wong)

I performed Iranian protest song, Ba’de Ma (After Us) by Shervin Hajipour arranged for the piano by me. Shervin had been sentenced to 3 years in prison for "incitement and provocation of people to disturb national security through his music."

Chinese State Media “Exposed” My New Crimes 😂

2024-05-10 - "Ricker Choi," who produced a lot of "separatist"-themed drawings and music during the anti-extradition protest, also uploaded a video of "Glory to Hong Kong - 250-Chorus" yesterday (the 9th)." (original url)

2024-05-03 - "concert will be held on May 11th, featuring Ricker Choi, who is allegedly violating the Hong Kong National Security Law. According to his social media profile, he describes himself as someone who "uses art to honor HongKongers' struggle against tyranny and sells paintings to help raise funds for various Hong Kong organizations."
